Honey Onyx
Categories: 18x18, Natural Stone
Honey Onyx is a light gold stone and it’s organic. Honey Onyx is a beautiful onyx with variable shades, textures, and veining. Portions of this stone are semi-translucent and is ideal to be a backlit feature.
Honey Onyx is a warm honey color with a white veining throughout. This makes it perfect for weddings as well as other occasions where you want to use gold coloration but not the typical feel that gold accessories give off when worn.
It is an ideal alternative if you’re looking for something more unique than solid gold options.
It was first discovered in Madagascar by the French geologist, Charles Lucien Bonaparte, in 1887. The name comes from the ancient Greek word “honey” because it resembles honeycomb.
In the late 1800s, French jewelers began to use this unique stone for its unique color, texture, and veining patterns. At this time, it was called “millefiori” or “pâte de verre.”
In 1921, British jeweler Harry Winston created an entire line of Honey Onyx jewelry using only natural materials from Madagascar.
